Story highlight

A Story highlight is a saved collection of Stories pinned to a profile so they stay visible after the usual 24-hour window. Instead of disappearing, the Stories live in a labeled bubble under your bio.

In more detail

Stories normally vanish 24 hours after you post them. Highlights, available on Instagram and Facebook, let you group chosen Stories under a custom title with its own cover image, and they sit in a row at the top of your profile permanently. People use them to organize evergreen content that new visitors should see right away: product lines, reviews, FAQs, how-tos, or an "about" intro. Because a highlight is one of the first things someone sees when they land on your profile, it works like a mini menu for your brand.

Example

A coffee shop posts a Story showing its new oat milk latte. After 24 hours that Story would disappear, so they save it to a highlight called "Menu." A week later, someone discovers the profile, taps the "Menu" bubble, and sees the latte plus a dozen other drinks, even though every Story in it has long since expired from the main feed.

FAQ

Story highlight, answered.

Do Story highlights expire?
No. A highlight stays on your profile until you remove it, even though the Stories inside it expired from your feed after 24 hours.
How many highlights can you have?
There is no hard cap on the number of highlights, and each one can hold up to 100 Stories. Only the most recent are shown in the visible row, and people scroll sideways to see the rest.
