In more detail
Stitch is built for response and reaction. You pull a short slice of an existing TikTok, then continue the story with your own take, answer, or punchline. Unlike Duet, which plays both videos side by side at the same time, Stitch is sequential: the borrowed clip plays first, then yours. The original creator gets automatic credit, and creators can turn Stitch off for their videos in privacy settings. It is a common way to answer a question someone posed, react to a claim, or build on a trend while still showing the source.
Example
Someone posts a TikTok asking "what is one tool that saved you hours this week?" You Stitch their first 3 seconds, then cut to 20 seconds of you explaining your answer. Viewers see their question, then your response, all in one video.
